Art Critique: Westerville City School Art Show

On April 29, I had the honor of being featured in the annual Westerville City School district art show. Walking around that Sunday evening, I discovered that there was so much talent being showcased, so I decided to take some pictures of my favorite pieces and critique them for my Art Experience. I loved strolling through the halls, admiring all the spectacular work. Some of my top picks were the acrylic paintings made by the high schoolers, and I chose to critique a few of my favorites that were there at the show. I absolutely loved “Apprehension”, created by Isabele Ramirez-Dieckman. Her art was probably my favorite of the three I’m critiquing. She used oil paint on canvas to create this art piece. The main style that was used is short strokes in a downward motion, and she does this in simple parts. The piece featured a black and gray cat looking behind itself, with a look of curiosity in its eyes. She, the artist, uses a neutral color scheme and almost nothing brighter than a pale white used for the whiskers. In this piece, the only subject featured is the cat. It gives the artwork simplicity and the …show more content…
This piece features a pair of feet on a blue, rocky beach, and a pale blue background, made with oil paint on canvas. Shannon’s artwork is very symmetrical and its main focus is the two feet. They look as if the person is nervous because the feet are close and fiddling together. It’s a very plain piece of art; the main components are the feet, the ground they stand on, and the sky behind it. I’m not sure why the ground is a teal color, but I like the contrast of the feet with a reddish hue against the blue-green terrain. The feet are really well done, though. They are very realistic and the artist uses basic shapes to portray the feet very well. To be honest, I’m not sure what the feet are representing and what the ground is, but I love this artwork

The venture was directed in the Achievement First Endeavor Middle School, a contract school in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn. Paula Scher and whatever remains of the Pentagram group (one of our 10 Most Innovative Design Firms), officially experienced with open spots because of undertakings like these library paintings, handled the ordinarily beige universe of lockers, tile, and block, and transformed it into something splendid and striking. The change is quite simple–no significant development was attempted, and the venture for the most part comprised of enormous, clear representation everywhere throughout the school, from the dividers to the cafeteria, the rec center to the stairwells. pentagram design The illustrations are for the most part…

It is said to be “painted in a loose impressionistic style.” Seeing that “On the Beach” shows children on a beach likely enjoying themselves.…

In this painting the main subject is on the ground looking towards a barn and house that appear to be on a farmland in a field. The subject is in a lavender pink dress that is slightly faded. This is a major contrast to the farmland and buildings as these are various shades of grey-brown which is a complementary colour to the faded celeste blue.…

My sister and I would think of titles for his paintings as they dried on the living room floor. After finding my own path through art history, honing my artistic skills, and expanding my knowledge of different cultures, I have noticed the ways in which these topics intersect with one another.…

Furthermore, the diagonal lines that shape the floor and the barriers of the bridge and the curved lines on the water make a combination of energy and endlessness at the same time because the side of where the scared looking person is, looks completely different from where the water, which is what perhaps reflects the degree of anxiety that the scared looking person was suffering in that particular…
