Art Career Progression

Improved Essays
After years of starting and stopping classes, changing majors and having a successful career for the last 15 years, I finally chose a major that is close to my heart: art. Currently, I am a graphic designer and would like to have a Bachelor’s in Fine Art, with my end goal being to complete a Master’s program and begin teaching art at the college level.
Job markets and people have influenced my decisions in the past. These influences may change my mind again but for now, I am on this track.
I am taking this class as a part of my transfer requirements but I have always loved history. In high school, 20 plus years ago, it was one of my favorite subjects (second to art). History never changes. You read reputable facts surrounding instances that

As this course comes to a closing, I must admit I truly enjoyed it. I have never been one who was really into history; however, I enjoy visiting historical sites. The two topics that really caught my interest were the Salem Witch Trials and The Great Awakening. What I found fascinating about the Great Awakening was that it only took one person, Jonathan Edwards, to spark such a considerable rift amongst the American Colonies. Although it was a religious divide; it also resulted in greater religious tolerance, which in my opinion helped to eventually reach equality.…

After having taken History 2700, I’d like to say that I will be a much more informed and better American citizen because of it. I have always loved history and so many of the things in this course were not too shocking for me, that being said, I still feel as if I learned several things. I enjoyed that this class focused less on dates and names and more on the significance, meaning, and later results of the historical events discussed. One area of history I knew very little about was the vast colonization of the the America’s before the British even established Jamestown. I found it very interesting and informing to learn about the early colonies of the Spanish and the French.…

I initially took this course solely to fill my History requirement. However, after sitting in our first class last week, I learned things that I never knew. Maybe, because I am clueless on Military History or I have just never learned anything about it, especially history dating back to 1945. The things we learned, atomic bombing, demobilization, and Servicemen’s Readjustment Act are all things that everyone should know and I am thankful that I know these things now. I hope to accomplish what I accomplished last class, which is learning important information that we help me understand the history of our country’s military.…

College is a life changing investment that prepares for life and career. The vast spectrum of knowledge, skills obtained, and experiences from a college degree more than compensates for the monetary cost of tuition. Creating art is my passion; I have always wanted to become a great artist ever since I was a child drawing on my walls and copying pictures from books. I have devoted my life to improving my talents by illustrating my own stories, practicing drawing daily, and challenging myself to earning my own money doing what I love by drawing commissions. Learning how to communicate through illustration is a valuable skill that will live with me for the rest of my life and progressing my artist career.…

Avantika Shrestha Professor Kwak HNRS 101-01 Reading Notes on Lies My Teacher Told Me by James W. Loewen Introduction (pg. 1-9) History provides us the blueprint of how we became to be what we are today History is often the subject that high school students find the most boring and irrelevant; often a high school subject that makes you dumber, the more you learn "American history is full of fascinating and important stories"; it often captivates and entices its audiences but students often find history books boring as even when they aim for drama and conflicts, the ending will always have the same message, "all was fine in the end" Even privileged students find that history is often "too neat and rosy" whereas students of color tend to view…

When most people think of a history class they imagine sitting in a dark lecture hall taking notes off a PowerPoint presentation, memorizing a few dates and people, repeating it on the test. Truly studying history, I learned, is more than memorization of a previously told story and accepting it as true. In this class I have learned history is about actively engaging the material, picking apart the details and nuances, creating and using timelines, finding deeper meaning in the material, asking questions, then looking again and digging deeper. It is not a passive study and not about memorization as I believed at the beginning of the semester. History is about asking questions and looking for answers, not just accepting what is already there, but…

Throughout this course we have not only gained factual knowledge about East Asia but also a framework that we can use to understand other countries and cultures around the world. To consider ourselves global citizens, we must have an understanding of the world and the way it works. From learning about the history of East Asia, we now have a better understanding of why it works the way it does today, and that makes us less ethnocentric and more empathetic toward others. This course has allowed me the opportunity to grow more as a global citizen, and to see where I have achieved and failed at pushing to see beyond myself and be a more inclusive person. Asides from the overt growth of knowledge about East Asian and its history, I have also gained an appreciation for the past and understanding that we cannot always believe what has been told and retold throughout history.…

“For very young children, making art -- or just talking about it- provides opportunities to learn words for colors, shapes, and actions” (Lynch). It is vital for a child to learn the importance of art early in their life so that they can choose whether or not they will be dedicated to pursue a career involving art skills. Learning about these basic forms of art at an early age gives children more insight in preparation for their educational life. “Although some may regard art education as a luxury, simple creative activities are some of the building blocks of child development” (Lynch). Students involved in simple creative activities within their peers can affect their emotional status and gives a more comforting feeling being around others that have similar qualities of enjoyment.…
