For a few years I was a librarian assistant. It was nice working in a cool, air conditioned, small building. One of my major responsibilities is work the children 's reading program. Once a week kids pile into the small library and I get to read to them and create crafts with them. Each week a new subject was picked, for example one week was gardening. I was able to create a craft which used circles to create worms and then we decorated them. For snack time I even made edible dirt and worms, which were really just pudding with a cookie crumble and bright, multicolored, sugary gummy worms. For the last few years I was a recreational counselor for Henderson Recreation. Working outside, rain or shine, in the intense humidity and heat. My main job was coming up with fun crafts for the kids. One day was tie-dying shirts, which I ended up staining my legs and arms deep blue and purple for a week, and the next making reindeer hats.
Art is an important factor in my life. Without my first art class I don 't think I would be the person I am today. It keeps me well rounded and always able to find a creative solution to a difficult problem. Art and I are attached to the hip. I even typed this essay while in the very same art room that I was in seven years ago with the same amazing teacher, with the same faded
