Arranged Marriages Research Paper

The arranged marriage process of India is very different than the type of marriages in the U.S. The process starts with the child's parents looking for the most suitable person to marry their son or daughter. If the parents find what they are looking for, they make an arrangement with the bride's family. As a result, both families will agree with the arrangement. These types of marriages are more common with the Hindus of India. The caste system plays a huge role. A family will never look for someone from a different caste. The groom will never see the bride until the wedding day, and the bride's family gives the groom's family a dowry. Though dowries have been banned in India, people still do it. The marriage system in the U.S is very different from India. For starters, the man either looks for his mate or the woman looks for their mate. The parents almost have some, but not much power when marriage is an idea. The parents never go looking out for the "perfect" mate. None of the family gives a dowry. Touching on the families being happy, I think its good if both families like each others, avoiding conflicts about religion or social issues. When here in the U.S its not rare to find families upset with each other either for the skin color,social identity,history or even how they are finically. The dowry is also a pro. Dowry usally consists of a really expensive items(car,plane,Tv,radio or money). It could really help the grooms family if they are struggling finically but it can slo be a bad thing as the grooms family can become greedy and unsatisfied and threaten to stop the marriage or ask for something more expensive that can leave the bride's family with
