As the Free Dictionary (2012) states, arousal is “a state of responsiveness to sensory stimulation or excitability” (Para. 1). Behavior is “the actions or reactions of persons or things in response to external or internal stimuli” (Para.2). These reactions can be work with both extrinsic and intrinsic motivation and this may occur through psychological or physiological effects. Psychological arousal can heighten human awareness, fears, anxiety, or tensions. Physiological arousal can be evident by muscle tension, increase in heart rate and breathing, or sweating.
The Yerkes-Dodson Law shows that, as Psychology Glossary (2012) states, if any organism is in a state of arousal, the behavior or performance can show improvement. But if arousal increases to an excessive level, performance can actually decrease. This level of arousal can vary in different people. For example, professional athletes can peak under more stressful or excitement of game time. But, if this level of arousal can become too excessive, the athlete may lower the performance level such as missing the last shot as time runs out. With behavior, the arousal reaction may stabilize the level of energy to complete specific tasks. Arousal can affect many aspects of human behavior with reactions like attention, anxiety, stress, agitation, and motivation. Since humans vary, behavior relates to the capacity

As WebMD states, stress is the human body’s normal response to changes that may require a response or adjustment. The human body responds to these adjustments with emotional, mental, and physical responses. Despite varying levels of stress, this is a natural part of human life. Anything that an individual may respond to may cause stress in the human body. Stress may occur from tour body, environment, and thoughts.
The design of the human body can cope with stress and respond to it. Stress may be positive or negative. Stress can keep individuals ready to react to situations and avoid dangerous behaviors. But, if this stress becomes negative, a person can face on-going difficulties without a break or relaxation period between events. If stress continues to build, burn-out, overwork, and tension may result. If the negative level is persistent, the condition of distress my develop and overwhelm the individual. Distress may lead to symptoms of sleep concerns, chest pain, high blood pressure, nausea of the stomach, and headaches. Research states that if the condition of distress continues for long periods of time, it may elevate the individual’s risk of diseases and worsen the
