How is Aromatherapy effective? Well, it is the number one alternative medicine used to help with anxiety and stress. Years ago there were not many books on the subject but, as technology advances so do studies of aromatherapy (“Does it Really Work?”). Many people still have their questions about whether or not it is used for cosmetic purposes more than therapeutic purposes. Therapists such as massage therapist use aromatherapy in the studios they work in. It is known that many therapist believe essential oils can treat specific physical or psychological problems. April Ruxton is a local practitioner, she has been practicing aromatherapy for around six years. One thing that traditional medicines and aromatherapy have in common are the things they can treat. Many continuously wonder if aromatherapy can replace major medicines. It can to a certain extent, obviously it can not replace major medications. As well, it can not help with non-psychological issues. One thing it can help with is lowering drug dependency. Addiction includes dependency on drugs, alcohol, tobacco, pharmaceuticals as well as less threatening substances(“Addiction”). With addiction come with withdrawal symptoms, if a patient is trying to quit it can sometimes be difficult because of the pain it causes.
