Army Select-Train Promotion Concept

This essay explores the basic concept on the army select, train, educate, and promote concept. The concept has been in regulation since 1 January 2016; before this, the army had been using the same system since the 1980s. We will begin with whom the army wants in its noncommissioned officer ranks. We will be talking about how each rank structure attends a promotion board, and the schools, both online, and residential course that the Soldier needs to attend before he or she promotes to the next level. The types of promotion boards, for example the unit promotion board and the central promotion board. After reading this essay, you will have a better understanding of how each board works. You will also know how each board operates; and understand what the Soldier needs to be prepared for. You will be learning about the consequences that can take place if the Soldier does not receive all the training.

For example, if a Soldier fails basic leader’s course, they can still retake the course later without repercussions. The same goes for advanced leaders course and senior leader’s course. When it comes to the sergeant major academy, the Soldier has to withdraw from class due to medical, or emergency. If the Soldier fails academically, they will not be able to retake the course, also will never be able to pin sergeant major. In addition, they will not serve as a first sergeant. The only rank they can hold after failing out of the academy is master sergeant. If that happens, they can consider their career
