The first value is, tenacity (Reed, 2017). I value having the drive to complete a particular task or goal regardless of the difficulties or obstacles that may get in the way of it. Over the last few years I have found myself in multiple circumstances where I tell myself to “keep moving forward.” Through my experiences and what I believe to be a positive approach to problems, they have been a significant part of my personality. Although, I have faced difficulties and questioned the importance of tenacity due to shortcomings and lulls in motivation, I still value completing the task or goal.
My second value is honesty. From an early age, I have expected honesty from myself and others. I believe that this had much to do with my faith and that lying never felt natural for me. Coming to West Point helped me further cement the importance of honesty with myself and others.
