The mission of the United States Army Recruiting Course is to teach prospective Recruiter’s interpersonal, conceptual, technical, and tactical skills and ensures mastery of those skills through practical application and evaluation that reflects the contemporary operating environment in recruiting.
This mission is very difficult to achieve due to the ever-changing atmosphere of recruiting; therefore the course in its entirety must remain ever-changing to provide the field with competent recruiters who are technically prepared to achieve the mission.
Currently, the Army Recruiting Course is divided into two areas. Division one, which provides in processing, basic enlistment eligibility, the Army interview, and telephonic prospecting. For this

In addition to the changes listed above; the final phase of the course known as RECEX (Recruiting Culmination Exercise) inaccurately projects real life scenarios. A majority of the information used during this portion of the course is outdated and invalid, not meeting the requirements that have recently changed in the field according to USAREC Messages. Currently, students perform a telephonic interview and attempt to engender a commitment for an appointment followed by an Army Interview. In order for this exercise to remain effective in building competent and agile leaders the following changes should be implemented. Students should continue to perform a telephonic interview, followed by an Army interview. After the successful completion of the Army Interview students should complete an SF 86 and enter the information into Recruiter Zone. By performing RECEX in this order the students will receive real world scenario training on the proper steps to processing a lead, prospect, and an applicant.
