Army Leadership Philosophy Essay

My leadership philosophy includes all of the Army Values. The value I lean towards most is respect; treat others as you would want them to treat you. If I want my opinion valued, then I should value others’ opinions. If I want to be able to approach a Soldier with an issue, I need to be approachable and honest. I should set the example for my Soldiers. I feel that Soldiers should be counseled for both good and bad performances. I like to be kept in the loop about what’s going on within the unit and with my Soldiers; therefore I try to keep my Soldiers in the loop. I believe that all members of the team are important from the lowest ranking to the highest ranking. Everyone has some special skill or input on how to accomplish the mission at hand; therefore, I am open to everyone’s input. A diverse team, with different backgrounds and experiences, is a strong team. I want the mission accomplished as quickly and easily as the next person. I expect professionalism, …show more content…
I interact and communicate with my Soldiers as much as possible in hopes that they will feel comfortable coming to me in any situation they find themselves whether it be military or personal related. I am here to support my Soldiers as I would expect them to support each other in any situation. If you have made a mistake, do not try to hide or blame others for your mistake, own up to it and learn from it. I believe as an NCO, I should set the example in APFT, professionalism, appearance, military bearing, and honoring military customs and courtesies. I do not expect my Soldiers to do anything that I am not willing to do. I don’t believe it would be fair for me to counsel on something that I need counseled on myself. I believe in counseling Soldiers for bad performance as well as good performance. At times I expect things to be done on their off duty time, however, I try to reward them for it later by giving a longer lunch or letting them leave a little
