Army Casualty Courses Policy

SUBJECT:

1. Purpose: Army Casualty Courses Policy for CNO/CAO Certification

2. Facts:

A. Effective immediately, the initial certification for Casualty Notification Officer (CNO), and Casualty Assistance Officer (CAO) modules will be conducted in a classroom setting.

B. Every Casualty Assistance Center (CAC) can add additional materials to meet local training requirements, but the standardized training can not be changed.

C. The Test Administration Guide (TAG) is the required guide when taking the standardized test.

D. If there is any new laws, policies, and procedures, the CACS must implement updates.

E. To gain initial certification, individuals must pass the certification test. The initial certification will expire in 12 months.
