I found that the Army was the best fit for me because becoming an active duty officer is the best path for a successful career within the Army. Therefore, at the age of 17, I made the decision to join the U.S. Army Reserves as a motor transport operator with the 223rd transportation company by way of the split option program. The split option allowed me to complete Basic Combat Training over the summer before my senior year of high school where I excelled in training and gained vast knowledge. After graduation, I will continue my training by attending Advanced Individual Training at Ft. Leonard Wood this summer. Upon completing of AIT, I will then start the next phase towards reaching my goals as a student at Valley Forge Military College. The reserves has not only given me the ability to start my career early as well as the opportunity to serve our great nation but will also help me reach my goal of becoming an officer of the Army.
