Army Career Options

Since starting the journey of what I want to do as my career, many options have been thought of. The one that seems like the most practical and enjoyable would be for me to join the US Army. I have not considered any other branch at the moment because I am at least a year and a half away from signing a contract. My MOS (Military Occupational Specialty) would most likely be a combat medic, or something in the medical field. The Army Rangers seems like a very good goal for me to achieve, and will require unbelievable amounts of both physical and mental challenges. I plan on going into the Army with an Associate’s degree because my research has shown you will be a higher rank going into basic training. Wanting to be a combat medic would also be a difficult task without having any knowledge about human anatomy and other health science classes. After talking to a recruiter on 7/25/2016, a day after my 17th birthday I will find out if my college will be paid for or not. The recruiter will also be able to identify what jobs I can apply for, once my ASVAB is scored. The army seems the most practical for me, because after searching online I have found that the Army is very flexible with what jobs you choose instead of them choosing your job for you. …show more content…
The Army has a special forces unit called the Rangers, which is what I would want to join after completing basic training. I have found that no matter what special forces you join that they are all very physically demanding. For instance, an Army Ranger will have to do 80 pushups and 80 sit-ups in a total of 4 minutes, and that is only the beginning. Finding this out for the first time I didn’t panic or throw my hands up and say this isn’t for me, I started running every day and am working out frequently.
