Arms Project Symbols

Improved Essays
In my Coat of Arms Project, I decided to use two symbolic shapes that represent who I am as a person. One of the first shapes I thought of was the circle since the circle is most commonly associated with routine and perfection. Being in routine and having a cycle of everyday events prevents me from having anxiety or stress about school since having a schedule will help plan out my day and allow me extra spare time to do extracurricular activities. In addition, I am usually referred to as a perfectionist because I always want to get a 100% on all homework, classwork, quizzes, and tests. Another shape I thought of that illustrated my personality was the square since it is linked with integrity and community. Having integrity helps me in certain …show more content…
Additionally, I have another color that primarily portrays me, which is the color yellow. Yellow happens to be one of my favorite colors because it symbolically shows happiness and optimism. Being happy and optimistic are the qualities and features that help someone succeed in the real world unlike the unhappy pessimistic people. In my Coat of Arms Project, I also decided to add a few symbolic graphics of thunderstorms and phoenixs. As a young kid, I always enjoyed watching the thunderstorms outside since I got excited about seeing lightning crash into the ground and clouds clashing against each other in order to create thunder. In addition, one of my favorite mythological creatures/beasts would be the phoenix since it is reborn from the ashes from which it died. I also experienced a similar event in which I had spinal surgery and felt reborn after the surgery was completed. As a key part to the project, I also added three slogans that apply to me and my family. Be strong, be grateful, and be accountable. All three of the slogans apply to me directly since I have to be strong during tough times, grateful if someone terrific happens, and be held accountable for actions I regret to this

Symbolism could be found in the “gold” key used by the Iranian military. Mrs. Nasrine, the family maid explains that at school, the teacher gave her son a plastic key painted gold as a ploy to get him to join the Iranian army, “They gave this to my son at school. They told the boys that if they went to war and were lucky enough to die, this key would get them into heaven.” ( Satrapi, 99). The key was used as a scam to get underprivileged, poor Iranian boys to join the war and die as “martyrs”.…

The first symbol I decided to write about is the Swastika. I feel it is one of the most hated and feared symbols in the world. Now, of course, I'm not Jewish, but this symbol strikes fear in me due to the way it was used in World War II. My 91 year old grandfather fought in that war and as a child (and even to this day) he would tell me stories of his time in it. Thanks to him and all that you learn in school, I can't look at this symbol and see nothing but hatred and fear for what it was used for.…
