Put on the whole armor of God, v.11 Paul makes sure to let his readers know to put on the whole armor of God. Not just part, or most of the armor of God. But all of the armor of God.
That you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil v.11
Paul tells the Ephesians to put on the armor so that they could even stand a chance against the devil. The way that Paul writes this suggests that we wouldn’t really stand a chance against the devil without having the armor of God, only showing more of it’s importance.
For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, v.12 Paul shows that this isn’t a battle between humans, this is something beyond the realm of humans and flesh. This is something that we cannot relate to. We can beat humans and

Then he reminds us one more time with the term “therefore” to take up the armor of God. Basically telling us “with all of that being said, you need this armor of God”
Again he stresses the idea of putting it all on. Like we are to fully commit ourselves to the Lord’s army by putting it all on, instead of just sections here or there. It will also prove to be more efficient for us later on.
That you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. V.13 Paul now gives us the main summarized reason for why we need the armor of God, so that we can withstand the attacks from our spiritual enemies. Though this spiritual warfare is very deadly and concerning; probably ended up frightening a lot of Ephesians who first read this letter. Paul shows us that if we play our cards right and prepare for spiritual warfare, then we can stand firm and come out victorious over

Like Paul is telling the Ephesians that this gospel will give them ‘readiness’. It will spur them on and build them up, making them feel ready, like they are fighting for a just cause in this spiritual battle.
In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, v.16
The word here being used for shield was the greek word for the type of shields that the Romans used. It was a very large shield that they would put in front of their fighting formation and it was one of the many reasons that the Roman military was so successful because they used their shields as the first line of defense against their enemies. Just like how we need to use our faith in God as our first defense against any spiritual attacks.
Paul makes it very clear that this is not in some circumstances you use the shield of faith, but in all circumstances we are to use it first. He leaves no room for any argument against always defending yourself with your faith in Christ, also this points to the necessity of having strong faith in Christ.
With which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one;

    This applies to society today given that our relationship with God has been misled through the materialistic deception we are subjected to on a daily basis in this capitalistic society, which Paul has already warned us about. Another example is when Paul addresses the divisions between the Jewish and Gentile communities, and how he served as an Apostle who sought to unite both groups. Similarly, we can look at Martin Luther King Jr. and how he utilized God’s word against separatist groups such as the KKK in order to liberate…

    We believe in such things no longer, we believe in the war” (Remarque 88). Paul juxtaposes his innocent youth with his transformation into a soldier. In this context, the use of the phrase “we believe in war” gives the impression that the only thing soldiers can “love” and believe in is the life of war and the primitive instinct of survival. To change their frame of mind, they have to “shoot it to pieces”-which means…

    With this being said and the age of Paul and the other soldiers, it may have been hard for them to get a clear idea of life. All they know is how to fight and how to survive. The war has stripped the life of them other than what they learned in training. On page 122, Paul talks of childhoods and memories that the soldiers and him have and how they are all they have left. Even then they are painful to think about because they are full of dead faces Therefore rendered a meaningless memory and clouding their minds of the one true objective in war for these young men, which was staying alive to fight another day.…

    2. In the early 1600s, William Bradford, a Puritan pilgrim from England, wrote a journal [Sovereignty and the], recording all his experiences regarding his pilgrimage. When this text was written, the Church of England had started to persecute all those who did not follow their religion, which included the Puritans, who had to move to Leiden, Holland. After a few years, a war broke out in that area, so the Pilgrims were forced to move somewhere else, in which they chose the present-day East Coast of North America. In the quote shown, William Bradford gratefully comments on how the pilgrims survived obstacles through their journey to the New World, in order to provide his religious insight on how God helped them out in times of need.…

    Quote #3 This quotation is written byJonathan Edwards in, "Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God". This sermon was written during the time of The Great Awakening where many people where converting or "awakening" to convert to be Christians. Puritans beleived in the concept of predestination, where God already has a plan and everything that happens is for a reason, good or bad. Edwards wrote this sermon because he wanted people recognize their sins and to repent for the bad things that they have done. It is clearly shown in,"Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God" that God looks down at us humans, and in His eyes we are seen as puny, and weak, so easily fooled, and manipulated.…
