The armor was so good, that whenever a knight with arrow proof armor got hit, it would render the arrow useless because either the arrow would break or the tip of the arrow would become dole.( Guide to Medieval Weapons and Combat) Not only did knights where armor to defend them selves, but usually they would wear a certain type of armor to show either rank or wealth. Also designs on knights armor also were meant to make a person look more intimidating. This factor is important cause this gives a person an upper hand. Knights don’t just need to be strong or smart in battle, but they have to be able to or know how to use their gear that they have. A knight would be trained to fight with weapons in a certain way. For example knights wouldn’t use war hammers the way you think, but they would rarely swing the hammer but would be using the opposite end of the hammer. It would be sharpened and covered in metal and this would be used like a spear. For example a knight that is fighting an enemy with a war hammer would most likely jab the end of the war hammer towards the face to make the enemy feel uneasy and eventually if all goes well, the enemy would lose his balance and would be compromised and the knight would be able to take him down with a finishing
