In almost all countries around the world, crime is solved through armed police forces that use firearms to keep civilians protected. There are only two countries around the world where policemen do not carry firearms while on duty. Both England and New Zealand police force currently do not carry firearms and I believe this should change. The topic of New Zealand policemen carrying weapons has been a long debate and due to recent surveys, more than fifty percent of the New Zealand population believes that policemen should be armed. Citizens of New Zealand no longer feel safe in their environment due to the increase of terrorism around the world, everyday policemen work hard to protect the community while undergoing dangerous and risky events.

This fatality count is huge with a population of four million in New Zealand. These statistics provide a clear understanding that no police officers should have their life put in danger because they are not equipped in the best possible way. The only way to solve this conflict is by arming the police force. Arming the police force would mean they will be able to enter situations knowing that they and innocent bystanders around them are safe. Throughout the countries of the world civilian firearm ownership is increasing especially in places such as North America and the United Kingdom. This has led to a total of thirty-three thousand or one percent of fatalities in America related to firearms. For some strange reason civilians have more access to firearms than New Zealand police officers do, how is this viable method of protection if police officers are instantly at a disadvantage.
A possible compromise to this conflict is through weapons that are not fatal. Technology in our world is rapidly expanding. The 3D printing market is increasing every day and maybe governments and police forces can use this to their advantage such as plastic bullets. Plastic bullets would be a viable way of suppressing a criminal without causing harm to them. This means that police officers will be more armed and protected without them feeling too overpowering.
