Because I am a captain of two activities, I work very hard to be a leader. In cross country, I help lead practices and activities. In chemistry club, I plan and lead activities to ensure safety. I really have developed my leadership goals throughout my time as a captain.…

I should be out doing something better than this i think to myself, It's cold out, i don't wanna be here,i hope this ends soon eleven years wow i’ve missed out on so much i wish i never joined up.. I've been in scouting since i was in 1st grade started from the bottom at a tiger cub and now eleven years later i've made it to the top becoming an eagle scout. The journey wasn't always smooth sailing though, when i was younger i didn't have much care about what i did with my free time and if scouts interfered with it meetings where thursday nights 6:30-8:00 we built fires learned first aid and how to read a map and compass,…
The week that I served as a missionary was the week for the developmental disorders, autism, and physical disabilities. My camper was a 17 year old girl named Breannah. She had intellectual disorder, which means her mental age was younger than her actual age. Her mental age was 14. Watching the kids in my cabin and those of other cabins made me realize that you should love who you are no matter what.…
Higgins helps sons, others fly high through Eagle Scout legacy By Donna Cope Upon earning the silver wings of an Eagle Scout, it’s easy for a young man to soar to great heights. That’s the personal and professional experience of Wesley Higgins, Technology Support supervisor - Customer Service Center at Corporate Headquarters, who has served as a Boy Scout troop leader in the Bessemer area for about 13 years. “Scouting was important in my formative years,” Higgins said. His Dad, retired Alabama Power Engineer Tom Higgins, was a big believer in the value of Scouting.…
350 word limits Essay Question - Other than your Eagle Scout leadership service project, what service have you provided to your community during your high school years? During my high school years, I have primarily provided service through my participation in the Christiana Care VolunTeen program and through the various clubs that I lead. The Christiana Care VolunTeen program allows young adults to help serve at the hospital in various areas, often exposing teenagers to how a hospital operates. Specifically, I worked in the Outpatient Pharmacy, SurgiCenter, and Pathology/Histology Lab, assisting patients and doctors with their various needs and tasks.…
Beginning my sophomore year of high school, I had the privilege to become a member of Alma Folklorica de Oklahoma. It is a Mexican folklorico dance group in which we perform different dances from different regions of Mexico. Through this group I have learned many lessons on what a leader does, who a leader is, and what being a leader looks like. Each year we have new members join, as senior members graduate out. Usually your first year as a member consists of learning regions, learning the costumes and accessories for each region, and looking up to the veteran members for any doubts we may have.…
The Armenian Genocide is sometimes referred to as the Armenian Holocaust because it reflects some of the Holocausts key attributes. Primarily, it was a targeted execution of the Armenian population (an ethnic group) living in the Ottoman Empire. The Armenians had once been their own country but then had been absorbed into the Ottoman Empire. Soon following the beginning of Ottoman rule, the Ottoman government began persecuting Armenians. This persecution began by limiting the Armenians rights and treating them like a lower class of civilian, on the grounds of the Armenians not being Muslim.…
In the span of two years, 1.2 million Armenians were murdered by the Turks (“The Armenian Genocide (1915-16): In Depth”). The elimination of the Armenians could be blamed mostly on the Turks because of the lack of trust from the Turks towards the Armenians during World War Ι. This is known as the Armenian Genocide, although Turkey refuses to consider it a genocide to this day. Since all the stages of genocide are completely evident in history, as well as the murder of millions of people, this event should be considered a genocide by Turkey and the rest of the world.…
Katherine Miller Professor Muedini IS 470 21 April 2016 The Armenian Genocide: Ignored but Not Forgotten Gandhi once said, “The enemy is fear. We think it is hate;but, it is fear.” Maybe fear is the motivator of hatred, and fear of the other drives discrimination, mistreatment, and violence. This fear can lead to tension between different groups of people such as different ethnic groups, especially in the cases of majorities and minorities.…
I’m honored to be soon a part of the National Honor Society. I hope you will decide to choose me. Why, you may ask. Well I, Brandy Lares, a senior at Crestwood High School, have a deep passion for helping others in need of assistance, and volunteering for several tasks. I hadn’t done Silver Cord hours during my freshman and sophomore year because I wasn’t aware what they were for.…
Please describe a role you have held in a meaningful group/peer-related activity. When I was small, my family and I lived in the developed and popular city of Mashhad. My dad who is a doctor, had at the time a small clinic that was approximately an hours away from the city, located in a village-like area where except my dad’s clinic and another clinic there was no other medical providing center. With a vivid memory, I remember the impression that I formed of my father’s profession during…
My first college scout was an interesting one. Possibly, one I will remember my entire life. The events that before infuriated me, had no room in my head. The overwhelming sense of pride counter acted the prior sense of anger. The sensational feeling of finally being recognized is one that will last a life time.…
I believe that everyone has that one story to tell, the unforgettable story that makes them who they are today. The story they feel completes them. My story is about archery, and my journey to nationals. It was a year and a half ago when my mom brought to my attention that I didn’t have a lot of community service hours. I thought it would be a good idea to get involved into an organization called 4-H. 4-H is is a global network of youth organizations whose mission is "engaging youth to reach their fullest potential while advancing the field of youth development".…
Not too long ago, a friend asked me what one part of my life defined me out of the blue. That is a hard question because I have so many hobbies and friends that have made me who I am today, but eventually I decided that being a brat defined me. My friend was mildly surprised by my answer, but once I elaborated that I am a military brat, they saw my reasoning. My dad was deployed often when I was going through elementary and middle school, so I had to figure out who I was and what I valued significantly more than other kids my age. I know that I cherish my family, my education, my friends, and that I will never judge someone because of a first impression.…
