Aristotle’s Rhetorical Triangle represents the relationship of the speaker, audience, and subject in a piece of text. One may apply this concept to writing a review for a movie, video game, or concert. Firstly, the subject of the text is clearly the movie/video game/concert, but even more so, the speaker’s personal opinion of their experience. The speaker of the text would be one who has experienced and analyzed the movie/video game/concert. Additionally, the speaker’s purpose is to provide the audience more insight of the topic by sharing their personal opinion of the event. Consequently, the audience shares an interest with the speaker about the topic, whose purpose is to learn more about the topic

In an article, “King Coal: Reigning in China” by George Will, Will uses several uses several different appeals of logos. Mainly, Will uses statistics to prove his point, such as “Half of the 6 billion tons of coal burned globally each year is burned in China.” Furthermore, Will pulls in outside sources in his articles, quoting The Times, a quote from a spokesman for the Sierra Club, and the Atlantic. In addition, he explains how China is a net exporter and importer of coal, since several of China’s coal reserves are inland and far from coastal factories, and how the transportation system only increases the use of coal because light-rail systems makes clears room for more coal trains. As a student who regularly eats spends money for the food in the cafeteria, I would know what I have been eating regularly. Before presenting, I would’ve needed proper knowledge of the nutrition facts and health benefits of the regular foods served in the cafeteria. Additionally, the health benefits could support my appeal to logos, if I could properly present the fact that healthier foods could benefit the students. However, countering the school’s budget cuts is especially tricky. I would need to show statistics of the increase or decrease percentage of students who would buy the healthier food, and if it would benefit the district. If it didn’t, I would need to demonstrate that healthier foods are a beneficial investment. In order to build pathos, I could provide my own personal experiences in the cafeteria, explaining how the non-healthy food makes me feel tired in class, as well as using figurative language to help explain my
