Zoology is the branch of biology and science that has to do with the animal kingdom. Zoology includes both living and extinct animals that are on Earth. Zoologists figure out how animals interact with their ecosystems, the structure of ecosystems, and the evolution. Zoologists also study the interactions between animals and their biotic and abiotic environments.
Humans throughout history have wondered and been interested in the animal kingdom. When humans first roamed the land, animals were very dangerous. Although Aristotle’s influence on western culture and science has been enormous we do not study his science but his philosophy. Aristotle’s writings had survived through periods of turmoil. According to famousscientists.org, “Aristotle was born in Ancient Greece in 384 BC, very nearly 2400 years ago. He was born in the city of Stagira in the Greek state of Macedonia.” Aristotle’s early life was about the average normal family lives, accept with the modern things we have now. His father, Nicomachus, was a physician. His mother, Phaestis, came from a wealthy family. His mother’s family had owned one of Greece's second largest islands. Aristotle was a young boy and his father had used Aristotle as a personal physician. Later on both of Aristotle’s parents had passed away when he was young. Because of that Aristotle was educated by Proxenus of Atarneus, who was also a physician. That is suspected why he had become such a great physician and studied animals and their behavior. Konrad von Gesner was born on March 26, 1516, in Zurich. He had studied at the University of Strassburg, where he had shown great talent and interest in nature. He continued his studies at Basel where he also studied medicine. After that he continued medical studies and settled down at the medical school of Montpellier and became a doctor of medicine. Some other Zoologists are Steve Irwin, Jack Hanna, and Dian Fossey. Steve Irwin nicknamed "The Crocodile Hunter", was an Australian wildlife expert and television personality. Steve Irwin was born in Melbourne, Australia, on February 22, 1962. Steve Irwin grown up with his parent at a wildlife park. He later wanted to become a animal enthusiasts and TV personality. Irwin's work had influenced many people studies and changes on views of animals. Steve Irwin was sadly killed by a stingray during a diving expedition on September 4, 2006. I had struck him in the heart and died from loss of blood and the poison from the tail into the heart. Jack Hanna is an American zookeeper. Jack Hanna was born in Knoxville, Tennessee on January 2, 1947. He had soon later opened an animal expert pet store after college. He became Columbus Zoo's executive director.
