Do you know what Ariat International is? Ariat International has been producing footwear and apparel for 26 years. Although most people consider Ariat to be a western wear company, they produce more than western wear. From just producing riding boots to producing apparel and footwear, the history of Ariat International is important to the history of the riding boot.

“Ariat was founded in 1993 by Beth Cross and Pam Parker, with the vision to bring performance technology to riders who were dealing with inadequate equipment.” (Ariat History 2013) It was “founded on technology and innovation--with the goal of making the highest-quality footwear and apparel.” (Ariat International) From 1991-1995 Ariat had already done a good deal of activities to advance the riding boot technology. Even though their previous cushioning technology worked well for five years, Ariat wanted to keep enhancing their footwear. Therefore they introduced Cobalt Technology. It offers an entire new level of advanced cushioning, support and stability in footwear. (Ariat History, 2013) “Ariat's Cobalt™ Technology combines a SKYDEX™ Smarter Cushioning heel system, our exclusive Cobalt™ footbed, a composite fiber forked shank, and a Duratread™ outsole to provide exceptional comfort, support and durability.” (Technology)

From 2006 to 2008 the introduced a new cushioning technology. Along with the Cobalt technology Ariat also used the Cobalt XR and the Cobalt Quantum technologies.(Ariat History, 2013) “ Ariat's Cobalt XR’s performance technology utilizes a variety of components to provide dynamic cushioning, stability, and flex to reduce stress and increase efficiency with each step. Ariat's Cobalt Quantum’s premium multi-system technology integrates a variety of components to provide the ultimate in breathable comfort, support, rebound, cushioning, stability, and ergonomic performance.
