Arian A Fictional Narrative

“Ariana, a big storm is coming tonight!” “What!” I can’t believe a storm is coming, the thought of the wind gushing through my windows, and all that lighting, thunder and rain! Last storm I actually asked my parents to sleep in their room. It’s not normal for a 13 year old girl to sleep in their parents room. The clock read 9:30 PM, which means it’s time to go to bed since I have school tomorrow. As I lay in bed I can’t sleep, the thought of storms and strong winds frightens me. A moment later I hear rain pounding on a roof, which was soothing to my ears. All of sudden I wake up to the sound of something pounding on my door. The door started to swing open with water coming towards me. “Mom, HELPPPP!” “Ariana, where are you?!” Water is pooling into my room like a waterfall, but I manage to fight it and get out the window. It is the start of June, so it is still a little chilly for Louisiana at this time. It is pitch black outside so I can’t see anything. My head is bobbing through the water till I hear a voice. “Arianna! Arianna! Arianna where are you?” My mom says. “Mom is that you? I’m over here by the barn! Can you see me?” …show more content…
I hold onto the barn handles still trying to see my mom. I don’t have night vision so it was hard, but then something touched my leg and I screamed with fear. It’s just a blanket from my room, it was comforting so I grabbed it. I thought that since it was cold outside, I could wrap myself around it. I started yelling for my mom and dad, and by my surprise I found them by a piece of metal glaring from the moon light. A big smile appeared on my face, and I couldn’t believe I could see them so I put all my power into swimming towards them. I finally reached them which seemed to take forever, and when I got to them I started hugging

Right from the start, our two essays approach their own topics in their own unique ways, using their own unique terminologies, and describing their individual weather event in drastically different tones. The first essay, What They Don’t Tell You About Hurricanes, starts off by declaring the uncertainty of a hurricane. The essay elaborates on the aftermath of a previous maelstrom that maliciously tore through the coast, initiating deadly lightning fires and horrendous floods. The monotonous way one prepares for such a storm is described almost in a detached, robotic way as if the ones preparing do not want to show any emotion because they know that if they do, all that will emerge is fear. Fear of the unknown, fear of the known, and an incredible…

The three of us, being willed on by the attentive, watching eyes of our peers, went into the house to find a spot to sleep for the night. It was around eight o’clock, and the last glimpses of brilliant orange and pink light were beginning to fade into a star filled canvas. We first chose to explore the large, three story home, and then later choose a place to rest. I, against my will, was leading the pack because I had the flashlight. We walked towards the back of the house with the boards screeching and bending under our feet.…

It was a typical Friday night, in the spring of 2003, my mom had just dropped me off at the gas station so I could go over to my dads. After I got in my dads truck we drove over to his friends house where we would stay till late hours into the night. I tried to stay up as late as I could so my dad would not leave me at this stranger’s house, but inevitably as the second grader that I was I couldn’t compete with the older men when it came to who could stay up the latest. Needless to say I woke up on a couch, in a house I’d never been to. I started crying and frantically looked for a phone, so that I could call my dad.…

The forlorn and depressing sky hangs above their young minds, sweeping them away into summer. Although the clouds say otherwise, the teenagers orbit the town of South St. Paul, throwing mud to others in the river and digging up asphalt as they ride, skimming across the streets in inhuman speed. The rain fastly approaches the vulnerable children as they watch the first drops shudder on the ground, shaking from the merciless wind that sweeps the trees and hats off of teens. The school rings the bell, although most have left already, their hands aching from pencil work.…

Perfect clear blue skies are not found every day. The pristineness and perfectness become engulfed by the realities of life. Storms rage throughout life, wind howls, and the pounding rain drowns out the once promising thoughts of a perfect time. These storms threaten one’s survival, but they aren’t referring to natural causes; they are referring to internal and emotional conflicts within. Adrienne Rich’s poem Storm Warnings uses lyrical diction, prolonged syntax, and a solemn tone to convey the correlations intertwining external and internal conflicts within a storm.…

The chill of fall was brushing down my neck, causing me to shiver and look towards the window. Wind swept through the cracks and leaked into the barn in which I was staying, causing my nose to take in the beautiful smells. My body tensed up, ready to go out and play, but I couldn’t, not yet. Once it gets dark, I told myself, then I can. The muscles in my arms and legs loosened a bit, realizing that they would not be needed, but my heart still pumped madly in my chest.…
