Unit 3 Arias Essay

The arias that I chose to focus on where remembering, taking notes and studying. I chose those arias because they all sort of link together with one another because you remember what you wright down thus not taking helps you study, and studying helps you remember things. Robert had many more arias of focus but I picked those three arias because I focus mainly on those three. However other people may thing differently. So what every you do to improve your learning is up to you if you want to learn that you will learn and vise versa. I can connect to the part where Robert said that "some very bright students find little difficulty in understanding what they hear or read. But some of these smart people get very poor grades and sometimes drop out, since they neglect the second part of learning, which is remembering." I found that interesting because I can be a smart kid but it is tough for me to remember things over time unless they have some thing that pertains to my interests. I have always been good at taking notes in the past because teachers I had during middle school and through high school when at an average pace when doing lectures. This had allowed me to take notes pretty much word for word and thus do better in class. However in college now you have to shorten up the notes and wright down what you fell is important because teachers do lectures at a faster pace sine they have to cover more info during the class instead of slowed down were everything is needed as notes. So basically note taking has become note making because you have to take notes on what you fell is need and simpler version of the information being shared in class. Along with remembering things and taking notes I found studying an interesting topic because college studying is different than studying back in high

In the article “Is a Picture worth a Thousand notes” by Jessica Higgins, she was curious to why most of her students choose other form of note taking rather than the traditional handwriting methods. That lead Higgins students to start a class discussion, one student said “I can’t read my own handwriting”, other students use electronic devices to record notes because they did not want to miss out on class discussion because they were “writing notes”. Students are motivated when they feel they are understanding the material and they are taking in the information. A way that students make sure they are engaged is by taking notes. In A Learning Secret: Don’t Take Notes with a Laptop by Cindi May, the author expresses her position about taking notes by hand versus typing notes.…

While both writings of “ Master Harold” ...and the boys, and Elie Wiesel’s Nobel Lecture included hope, despair ,and memory , it came clear to me that this was true. “Master Harold” and the boys had despair when it came up between Hally and Sam . Hally became unfair and rude towards Sam , when all Sam was doing was speaking the truth. Although Hally had troubles in his family, but he did not have to take it out on Sam. Elie Wiesel’s Nobel Lecture talks about how memory is a gift and how you must use it.…

Typing your notes electronically allow you to take notes faster which can be beneficial in writing down everything the professor is asking. This can also help in the future because your notes will be more thorough and have specific information which can help you get higher marks. On the other hand, even though typing you notes does have its advantages it also has many more disadvantages.…

High school came to an end May 15 for me, and I believed college wouldn't be much different, but I wasn't entirely correct. Many things changed which I had to accustom myself to, from living on my own, to making sure I ate correctly, but little did I know that I would have to change my study habits. For as long as I can recall, I have been using the same study habits throughout high school. I believed and was taught to memorize, but I also realized that even though I would pass my test with flying colors, I would find myself forgetting a majority of what I had memorized a month and or a week ago. Now that I am aware that the technique used in high school, will no longer apply in my college years, and years to come.…
