Hallinan claims that prisons are cruel and needlessly punitive “now if an inmate attempts to defend himself from sexual assault and he is fighting an inmate who is maybe stronger and a better fighter than he is, the consequence of that that he’ll get a beating; is that right? Probably so. And then what’s going to happen after the beating? Then that’s something that helps me make my decision whether or not his allegations are actually legitimate or not” (13-14). The prisoners inside the prison do not get help from the guards nor do the guards believe the prisoners of what they say because they are in there. The recidivism rate for capital punishment is zero. No executed murderer has ever killed again” (22). Parks says this because she is right no murderer who has ever been executed has never killed again because the death penalty took care of it and resolved what to do with a murderer who might just go out and kill again after his or her sentence from the court is over. The punishment could be right or wrong, could help or could hurt, they would kill the wrong person they could kill they right person, it’s all about trial and error if it happen it happens they will try to fix it but when parks says that no executed murderer has ever killed again that’s saving someone’s life right there on the spot by executing the murderer who will more than likely kill again. Sharp says in the Capital punishment “The murder of the innocent is underserved. The punishment of murderers has been earned by the pain and suffering they have imposed on their victims. Execution cannot truly represent justice, because there is no recompense to balance the weight of murder. For some crimes, it represents the only just punishment available on earth” (22). We the people can only do what we can here on earth to help save others safely and hope the best for their safety by keeping all the murderers, rapists, pedophiles, burglars
