The funds given to Planned Parenthood by the government are very essential to the women that attend the clinic for their services. They receive “more than $500 million annually in government funding” (Kliff). None of these funds, though, go towards abortions but instead for services such as “birth control, cancer screenings, testing and treatment for sexually transmitted infections” (Editorial Board). Many of the women that attend come from low-income homes, so they need Planned Parenthood to provide these benefits to them. Taking away the funds that come from Medicaid and grants will cause more of a burden on the women who are already struggling. The Editorial Board from the Washington Post states in their article, “Stop the Vendetta Against Planned Parenthood”, that 's “the last thing either side of the abortion debate should want is an increase in unwanted pregnancies that result in more abortions.” It is not in the government’s best interest to withdraw the money because it will only lead to more conflict about …show more content…
Cortney O’Brien, a writer from Town Hall, describes in her article, “Horror: Third Planned Parenthood Video Captures Abortionists Procuring Fetal Tissue for Profit”, how they were “casually eating lunch” and one person was “callously joking she ‘wants a Lamborghini.’” This makes people think that Planned Parenthood is a very careless clinic and that they think it is alright to do such an awful thing. O’Brien also states, “Anyone who watched the two released videos knows that the casualness with which these abortionists discussed selling body parts proved they have become desensitized to young lives within the womb.” This is why people want the funding to cease.
