Within most companies only a few upper levels positions exist and very few are equivalent positions. That means most women are unable to prove, within the law, their exact male counterpart is earning more because their peer exists outside of their company. By addressing this issue the Equal Pay Act’s original goals can finally be met. With that, women will be much closer to receiving the same pay as men, and the business world will be one step closer to being…

Gender discrimination is not an issue that can be ended instantly. The war against it has been fought in countless battles that take the shape of court cases, executive orders, and legislation. One branch of gender discrimination is the wage gap in the workplace. However, America’s countless attempts to prevent it all appear to be in vain. Through the Equal Pay Act of 1963, the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act of 2009, and other significant pieces of legislation, it would seem that women may be paid equally for equal work sometime in the near future.…

“The latest data from the United States Census Bureau shows that women only make 79 cents to every dollar a man earns” (“Gender Inequality”). This is an unjustifiable fact that needs serious adjustments. The pay gap does not reflect any other characteristics of a woman other than her gender. Verily, “there remains a pay gap — even after factoring in the kind of work people do, or qualifications such as education and experience” (“Your Right”). There is no logical reason as to why unequal pay persists.…

Isn’t it the ubiquitous interest for both men and women to get equal amount of pay if they have the same job and do the same task? Americans, in general, have been advocating the notion of equity between gender, stating that men and women should be treated equally and receive the same degree of benefits. This notion can be easily applied to the concept of liberalism and republicanism, which states that the government should protect individuals against arbitrary restraints and secure individuals’ interest. However, the reality is far different from these ideal expectations. According to a Pew Research Center analysis of median hourly earnings of both full- and part-time U.S. workers, “women earned 83% of what men earned in 2015” .…

Women work in lower-paid sectors than men do. There isn’t a gap in the pay between genders that do the same job, but a gap between the pay of the jobs that each gender gravitate towards. As a matter of fact, 90% of women are employed in the lowest-paid jobs . This is the reason why women earn less, not because they are paid less for the same job, they gravitate towards lower paid work. Common jobs for men are jobs like software developers, construction and computer system operators; women gravitate towards jobs like nurses, primary school teaching and human resources and administration.…

With women working the same jobs as men, it is only fair that they should be paid the same as the men working with them.…
