Transgenderism is an extremely controversial issue in which thoughts widely differ. Often times, it may be perceived as going against societal regularities. In relation to bathroom use, numerous news articles propose ideas about this topic. This issue is interesting because it is a particularly popular topic that catches the eye of many people, especially with the proposed bathroom bills. Numerous people also have varying opinions on the topic which makes it extensively debated. This leads to the unrestricted question; which gender is more concerned about transgender women in female bathrooms? If transgender people use the bathroom of their choice, then males will be more concerned than women. Researchers have previously revealed that males …show more content…
They developed a technique to interpret the meaning behind comments on online news articles. The analyzation of comments used both quantitative and qualitative methods of measurement. Researchers were interested in focusing exclusively on transgender females and bathroom usage. From an Australian version of Google News, they totaled 1035 comments from over 190 online articles. These comments were further categorized as negative or non-negative based on whether or not the person expressed concern of safety and …show more content…
One problem with this analysis is that men are more likely to leave comments online than women, so it may not illustrate the opinion of the greater population. Additionally, people who comment on online news articles often have a penetrating curiosity on the topic, therefore, generating more diverged views than those who do not post. The largest limitation produced in this study is how the researcher only examined the Australian version of Google News in order to generate data. It is important to conduct this study with different versions of Google News because the results may vary around the country. Based on this observation, this study is more likely to be generalized to Australia and not to other
