Arguments Against The Use Of Propaganda And Overpopulation By Chris Hedges

A political leader will use anything to control, deceive, and lie to the population. They have found that the best way to do so is to use mass propaganda and brainwashing the public. This should never be done anywhere due to how destructive it can be to a population. Places like North Korea will very likely never be fixed because of how effective and destructive propaganda is. I agree with Chris Hedges and his argument. Even though people could argue that it is better, but the population will be under control and won’t know that what they are in is not normal, but this isn't any way for a human to live.
Political leaders are usually intelligent people and know what needs to be done in order to make the population to believe whatever they say. Often times they have someone behind the scenes telling them what to do and how to do it so that nothing gets out of place. Once the population has eaten up the propaganda the leader does not need to be sincere or honest like Hedges stated. This is when it becomes slightly easier as the leader doesn't have the burden of constantly worrying about what they say. In order to make the population more easily controlled

An example is North Korea, all the people there love him and look at him like a god. “those who are best at deception succeed.” says Hedges. In order to lie to the population you should be skilled at deception like Hedges stated. Doing this takes a fair amount of time, but once the deception is at its peak the population is easily controlled and will do anything the leader says. They become like slaves. Looking into a country like this is extremely shocking as our system is so much different, but if you grew up there you would notice no problem and would usually accept it. Older people in those countries never talk about how it was before because the government will take them and put them in labor

Modern day North Korea, nicknamed the hermit kingdom, is known to be heavily isolated from the influences of the world. Its people are secluded and forced to praise their ruler, Kim Jong-un, or else they shall pay a dreadful price. Moreover, personally, I do not believe that Jong un’s people truly see and love him as this god-like figure. To me, I see them as terrified and depressed people who are involuntarily forced by the Korean government to live in a place with no freedom. This is even shown by the number of refugees who risk not only their own lives but their families in order to desperately escapes the clutches of their horrifying environment.…

In the political world the number of ruling options are radically different. All of the different theories of the best way to rule the people coexist in several countries. These theories have been popping up in the literature history since the first hieroglyphics were scratched onto walls. One leader, a whole council, equal treatments, torturous living conditions, the human race have been through a lot of horrible ideal of governments. For example, Adolf Hitler being the dictator of Germany, capturing several countries, and mass murdering millions of people if they were different from his view of how everyone should be.…

“A leader has to watch every word he or she says and quickly learns that you can’t go through life without a few critics, some well deserved” (pg. 5), this quote as some of the beginning words from MacDonald truly shows that a leader has responsibilities to uphold to. I found it interesting that he showed these responsibilities are not only external, but internal as well. Many do not realize the internal battles that leaders in ministry go through, and in order for leaders to handle a situation in a mature manner; they must uphold to the responsibilities of character they are expected to maintain. There are many internal and external expectations of leaders that are specified in Building Below the Waterline, but only some really stood out to me as factors that I would practice more than others in my leadership positions.…

Rick Shenkman seems to know seems to know just how to grab the readers’ attention in his book, Just How Stupid Are We? Facing the Truth About the American Voter. While most readers may disagree with his central arguments, I agree with him. I do believe that, as a whole society, the American people are very uninformed when it comes to politics, government, or any other relatively “uninteresting” topics. It seems as though the American people could actually care less about what is happening in our government and whether the people in power are taking advantage of our ignorance.…

This reminded me of us now. I am a citizen of the Republic of Korea, and I think we, Korean citizens, are also somewhat brainwashed by the government. One example is where beginning from 2017, Korea is changing all history textbooks for middle and high school to national textbooks. Even though they are not out yet, people are assuming they are going to be biased and have limited information. I think this is one example of the government brainwashing the people, which ties into the real…

Leaders create a persona for themselves to citizens, claiming they are truthful and kind individuals, when in reality deception and artifice is at play. Artifice proves to be an essential skill as it can be seen through successful political leaders, such as Adolf Hitler and Kim Jong-un. Power is enormously crucial, and can not be achieved without manipulation or deception. For example, North Korea’s dictator Kim Jong-Un has convinced the entire North Korean country, that the United States is terribly…

I was very surprised and taken aback by how the North Korea and its curriculum is run by one dictator, Kim Jong Il. When reading and watching the video, the North Korean people are in a sense "brainwashed" to believe this is the only acceptable way of living. This has been going on for generations now so all of the so-called "newer" generations are being raised in a system that they are led to believe is the right way when they have no idea of what goes on outside of their own country. When it comes to the curriculum, it's exactly the same way. As they go through school, they are taught political indoctrination, including how to be loyal to the great leader.…

There are three types of governments that focus on taking complete control over people’s livelihood and freedom; the three governments are totalitarianism, fascism, and socialism. The main topic of this assignment is not fascism or socialism, it is totalitarianism. A totalitarian society is ruled by a dictator that takes control over everyone’s way of living. Of course, this seems a little impossible to do. How can a government make sure everyone is doing what they are told to do?…

Rachael Meinders Population Problem Essay September 30, 2014 Period 6 Overpopulation is a highly debated and controversial idea that states that the carrying capacity of the earth determines the number of people the world can sustain. The carrying capacity is a figured number or limit the world can hold and function with at any time. Earthly features such as the amount of resources, health of the environment, modern technology, basic needs, etc of the people and the land determine the carrying capacity, which always changes. The idea of overpopulation states that when the population exceeds the carrying capacity, the society fails and dies off. There is no definite evidence proving or disproving that carrying capacity exists, but there is a great deal of debate and speculation about all aspects of the idea of overpopulation.…
