There were at least 800,000 Jewish deaths in the ghettos, mostly from starvation and disease (The Holocaust). In 1930 Germany’s economy was not doing well due to the treaty of Versailles and the great depression, so the citizens were willing to listen to any one who claimed they could fix it all and that was Hitler. Once Hitler was elected chancellor in 1933 he started brain washing people telling them that the reason for all Germanys economic problems was because of the Jews, so Jews were starting to get discriminated and then started getting forced into ghettos then concentration camps. These observances help the Jews keep their humanity and prove that they cannot be defeated easily. This was not the only way the Jewish people resisted the reality of the ghetto.
Another way of unarmed resistance was the use of underground library.
School was not allowed in the Ghetto, so Jews started having secret schools. “Throughout occupied Poland, Hundreds of clandestine schools and classes were organized inside the ghettos (United States Holocaust Museum, 1). Many secret schools were used in the ghettos. These schools used whatever materials they could find to use for class.
However some Jews wanted to fight back with brute force.
Topic Sentence There was also many times when the Jews used armed resistance to fight back to the Germans. When Jews were told they needed to report for deportation for the next morning they revolted. “Hundreds of Jews fought the Germans and their auxiliaries in the streets of the ghetto” (“Jewish”). Many Jews fought with hand guns that were smuggled in and anything else they could find in the Ghetto to use as a weapon. They knew that there was no way they would win, yet they still fought bravely and valiantly.
