Decent Essays
Are you for/against The Assassin, and why?
One thing is indisputable regarding the film. It is gorgeous visually, with astonishing cinematography, costumes and in general, production values. However, I think it is lacking in terms of script, and in combination with the scarcity of action scenes, it can be rather tiresome, especially to the viewer expecting the exact opposite from a film of the genre. Actually this is a question regarding if one enjoys art-house films or not, because The Assassin is definitely one of those.
How do you feel The Assassin fits within Wuxia cinema?
The film has no place whatsoever in the Wuxia genre. One could say that it is an original visage in a somewhat preterit category, but I think it has nothing to do with

As we’ve clearly seen, their version is totally at odds with the evidence and more towards a bias in desperate haste to confirm a predetermined conclusion and the government’s thesis -- a lone assassin. If its not the HSCA they rely on, they rely on subsequent “experts” of the case. Also... Pat Speer factually points out: “While many TV shows present the single-bullet theories of Dr. Lattimer, Gerald Posner, and Dale Myers as if they are the official government theory, the theories of these men are actually at odds with both the Warren Commission and HSCA interpretations of the wounds, trajectories, and shot sequences.”…

Conspiracy theories concerning the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln have been in existence since almost directly after the death of this great political leader. According to author Daniel Cohen, “there were hints, and sometimes shouts, of a wider and more sinister conspiracy.” In some instance, such suspicions seemed no more than murmurs. There may be a vast number of conspiracy theories but only a relatively small number of them receive scholarly attention, perhaps rightly so. But, sometimes the small allegations may actually lead to very telling clues related to the grand schemes that many scholars and historians are familiar with today.…

The no argument is also at fault. In the interview with locals of Steven Avery’s hometown, they are incredibly biased because they are connected to the police department, and have “hometown camaraderie.” They aren’t even willing to consider his innocence, just like Making a Murderer isn’t willing to consider his guilt. These locals try to appeal to the reader’s emotions, asking if you would let Steven Avery live in your home, but this argument falls short because of their hostility. In the other articles on the no side, we see other media sources, like Radiolab, doing the exact thing Making a Murderer did: focus on one part of the argument, and shape their content to fit that argument.…

When you take the greatest video game franchises of all-time into consideration, Hitman is a brand that is typically overlooked – and perhaps it should be. Still, Hitman punches out a new adventure every two to three years, yet it doesn’t carry the weight of excitement that currently surrounds franchises like Grand Theft Auto, Metal Gear, or Call of Duty. It’s understandable when a resoundingly popular game series, like Assassins Creed or Uncharted, enters into film production – but for the lesser-appreciated Hitman saga, it hardly makes sense to take such an unadvisable risk to create another installment. After all, it’s not as though the franchise’s previous film, Hitman (2007), did major box office business.…
