Project Appleseed even gives a solution to the second problem by stating, "This potential disadvantage can be avoided if teachers set up an evaluation rubric (rating scale with several categories) that clearly defines the characteristics of poor, average, and excellent performances so teachers can score them in a consistent manner." This solution seems very easy to apply and would work fine. The potential gain from PBA is something I believe schools should strive for, and schools should work to find solutions to the other problems surrounding PBA.
Myself and many of my classmates do well in school, but in order for us to keep doing well in school, I believe the tests need to change. Standardized tests cannot fulfill their purpose of demonstrating student's knowledge to help students in the areas they need it most. The way Performance Based Assessments are explained, they sound much better than standardized assessments in areas of knowledge and improvement.
