Some people may say that standardized testing is needed to properly assess the students skills and intellectual abilities along with how well the teachers teach, as it compares the students scores nationwide. This can easily be assessed by looking at the kid’s test scores throughout the year during their regular curriculum. In addition this would give a more accurate representation of their smarts. The federal funds are given only to those schools that perform well. They have been weighed extremely heavily since the cold war when the US was determined to get smart and able workers in the force.
Some of these tests like the SATS/ACTs which determine what colleges you can get into, they also determine what classes you can take for example in 6th grade if you do well on the math MCA’s you can double skip classes, or be placed in an advanced course. Since so much rides on these tests and the scores you receive on them, they are extremely stressful for the kids/ young adults taking them
Tests don’t take in external factors. Some kids are bad test takers, or have a bad day. A Lot of kids including my brother can have testing anxiety or wake up and have an argument with their friends/family.
