Colored individuals were treated terrible and were looked down upon, unable to be educated or even pursue a dream. Instead slaves where traded off and spilt apart from their families. Slaves began doing hard labor from all ages, from kids to the elderly. Later on down the road civil rights activist began to rise up and fight for their freedom, activist like Martin Luther King Jr. Dr. King presented over 250,000 people with his “I have a dream” speech, this became the up rise to ending slavery. As years passed segregation became the problem but it was progress to ending slavery.
