The media has led the public to believe that an increase in trafficking of human beings will occur due to there being no current ban on brothels. However, this is not right. Before brothels were to function, trafficking human beings and other acts of crimes were associated with prostitution. With certain sectors under control, it is expected to be rid of all illegal activity. Human trafficking could be increasing in sectors that are outside the law. Countries below the equator, for the past thirty years, had found a significant growth in prostitution and the trafficking victims for the sole purpose of prostitution (Poulin). Legalizing prostitution will give traffickers the motive to take more women and children from their homes and families to an unfamiliar place to have sex with a stranger because of the profit promised. The percentage, being 90%, of trafficked victims for the reason of sex trafficking is much larger than for the purpose of cheap labor.(Poulin). There are lower rates of human trafficking in countries that outlaw prostitution than countries that allow it. The world would become a much better place once the disgraceful act of prostitution is illegal in accordance with the flow of human
