5. Describe at least one viewpoint on the issue that differs from yours. Explain the facts and principles that support this opposing viewpoint. (More than one opposing viewpoint may need to be discussed.) The other viewpoint on the issue is that we should not legalize marijuana. Through my research I found that legalization may increase the number of kids who try marijuana in the first place. Research shows that marijuana causes structural and functional changes in the developing brains of adolescents; it impairs high level thinking and memory. There is also a small percentage that marijuana for kids can trigger latent mental illnesses like schizophrenia. This drug may cause something called amotivational syndrome and adolescents who regularly …show more content…
However, over the past few years, there has been a lot of talk about why the drug should become legalized. Educationally we have learned through scientific research and political debates the pros and cons of marijuana and it seems as though marijuana is a drug that can be used in the medical field and is also a drug that does not cause as much harm as other drugs and alcohol. I stated some facts above that agree with this statement. Doctors would love if marijuana was legalized so they could legally offer patients all around the world the treatment marijuana has to provide to their patients. Without the legalization, doctors in all states but 23 cannot even mention marijuana as a treatment for them because it is illegal. Patients have influenced my viewpoint of legalizing marijuana because they are the ones suffering. Agree with your statement on arguments against marijuana being outdated and ignorant. Both articles shows the people lack any knowledge towards marijuana and only label it as bad, like you said, for no valid reason. As I also wrote that marijuana should be use for medical purpose, when need of course, and it is proven to work and help people with their illness. The points you pointed out on legalizing marijuana seems like a win-win for everyone, but people still believe it would cause more harm than good. Hopefully, with research and study, marijuana will be legalized in Florida and the United States even if it's for medical reasons.…

Marijuana Mayhem Many laws, court cases and government have been upheld in the process of legalization of marijuana. Throughout time bills have been passed and bills have been looked upon but it is the bills with solid facts backing them that will make it out of our justice system victoriously. While the author of this article tried right away to scare his backing audience he also didn’t do himself good by using the oldest opinion in the books “Marijuana is an addictive, gateway drug.” Every time I hear that I think its complete bullshit because there is no scientific evidence backing that and with all humans anything can be emotionally and mentally addictive if we tell our bodies that we depend on it.…

I do agree with the government’s position on legalizing marijuana for recreational purposes because the pro’s outweigh the cons. Marijuana is one of the most popular drug used in North America other than tobacco and caffeine. There have been several studies conducted to better understand the function and effects of the drugs, the drug is also used in the medical world. There have been numerous cases of people being caught possessing and using marijuana and it affecting their criminal record which can ruin their lives for a harmless drug. There have been zero cases in total of people overdosing on the drug which can only mean that the effects are not deadly.…
