Legalization of Marijuana: Missed Opportunities
There has been debate and speculation on the subject of the legalization of marijuana. Some think it deserves the chance of legalization, heralding it as a hero to the stressed populous. Others view it as an unspeakable evil, thinking of marijuana as the devil incarnate. There is a multitude of reasons for the legalization of marijuana. It has health benefits, such as the instance of use as a pain suppressant. It also has bounteous psychological benefits, relieving stress and making it bearable to survive the onslaught that is daily life. They will choose to live in ignorance of such a drug existing, and try to campaign against it. Such a nuisance cannot be helped, but with the help of the many, we can silence the few who wish to take away our political and social freedoms. We need the legalization of marijuana to happen in the United States, for a plethora of reasons. Marijuana is used as a psychological healer for those who need a coping mechanism. It is used as a pain reliever for those who prefer a drug more natural than pharmaceuticals. It can be used as an economic stimulus, which everyone knows we are in dire need of. With the legalization of marijuana, comes justice and safety to its habitual users and the new prospectors of the drug. With the legalization of marijuana, comes a vast amount of social opportunities as well that we should not simply pass up as a result of such narrow-minded policy that was created long ago. Why should society deny themselves such a vast amount of seemingly endless possibilities with such a harmless and seemingly fun-loving drug? Legalization needs to happen for the benefit of everyone, both users and non users alike, in the United States, and it needs to happen
