Arguments Against Interracial Adoption

Many women cannot bear any children. So their only option would be to adopt. Since the last couple of decades, people are able to adopt children not only from the United States, but also from other countries. Plenty of couples are adopting or planning to adopt children from other countries. However, some believe that interracial adoption may ruin a child’s life. The people who believe that will most likely believe that love is just not enough to give to an adopted child. Many factors one should consider before an ethnic adoption are that the child would be culturally deprived, the child would have weaker family bonds, and other children in America also need homes. Interracial adoptions can cause a child to become culturally deprived. First, the child will begin to feel lonely. They feel like they do not belong. The child will most likely experience racism as school or work depending on the age. There are plenty of reason to which one should just adopt from America and not from other countries. According to CCAI, there are 101,666 children ready for adoption. Nearly thirty two percent of these children have to wait another three years until they can get adopted. When the children grow up to be eighteen or over, they are sent out of foster care. In 2012, there were 23,296 children that aged out. (“Facts and Statistics”) Many of these children grow up with traditional values and are accustomed to certain holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving. Therefore, the parents would not have worry about teaching the children values. The children would know what is acceptable and what is not
