Arguments Against Homeless Killing

Improved Essays
The police should not be pardoned for killing any unarmed person or the use of unjustified force, even if it is accidental they should still have to pay some sort of price for their actions. I’m not just talking about minorities I’m talking about anyone killed or have had any excessive force brought upon them. The police should be here to enforce the law, not be above it. When there are cops out there killing unarmed people and getting off with no consequence that makes me sick. I feel like in the society today it is cops against the people, because of all the unarmed killings done by the police. This is a problem for the whites but not nearly as huge a it is for minorities.

Some cases of unarmed killing are accident but their are many cases

To me, Caucasia by Dannzy Senna, is a great novel, which weaves through difficult topics into a sensitive, absorbing read. In essence, Caucasia is a well-crafted “coming of age story” that highlights the strict confines of race. The novel mainly shares the journey of Birdie Lee, a young bi-racial girl who was growing up in Boston in the mid 1970’s. We learn Bridie’s father is black and her mother is white; and Bridie’s older sister Cole has dark skin, while Bridie is more light skinned. Eventually, the girl’s parents can’t get along at all, and this causes the family to fall apart.…

The education of the white man also contributes to brutality as he feels inferior to people around him thus harming them. This causes police officers to preform racist acts and severally injuring or even killing African Americans. A common argument against police brutality is that the officer acted in self-defense because the victim possessed a weapon. This takes down the Veil as the officer simply wanted to protect himself against the victim and used excessive force to handle the problem. Although this makes out for a reasonable argument it produces questions.…

These are only five cases that are known, so many more may exist. At what point do we call to action the officers meant to protect us? Police brutality disproportionately affects African-Americans more than any other racial group in America. An FBI study of “justifiable homicide” shows that from 2005-2012, white officers used deadly force against a black person almost two times a week. Of those killed, one in every five was 21 years old or younger.…

In his essay “For Cops…” Kevin Johnson claims that videos of police officers are placing their actions under new scrutiny and changing the way that claims against officers are played out in court. Police have responded by trying to limit such recordings when they feel that they interfere with police actions. The fear that is most present in law enforcement is that these videos will cause officers to change how they behave in a life or death situation. To combat this, officers are now receiving training to deal with being recorded.…

We are being inhumane to force people to continue suffering in this way (Newman, 1996). Choosing for a more painless death comes a lot easier for patients along with family who witness the pain of their loved is enduring with all the medications and treatments (which tend to cause severe side effects). I believe that is justified. Especially knowing that the chances of survival are very slim for the patient. Supports of the mercy killing ask whether it is rational or not to keep a terminally ill patient who’s hopes of survival are slim and alive on a support system when our medical infrastructure is under immense pressure (Naik, 2011).…

A survey showed results that Hispanics and African Americans are more likely to be expose to force of officers that whites. This brings about problems nationwide within the policing system because the public is being exposed to these situations more each day. It is known that police officers should only use the necessary amount of force that is needed to protect themselves from harm and make arrest, but this is not always the case. There are some cases where officers mishandle suspects and use more force than what is needed when making arrest. The use of force from officers can be categorized into two ways; deadly force or nondeadly…

Police brutality and racism seem to be consistently connected to one another. This has become a serious issue in which circumstances have ended violently or even fatally when involving police officers and African American citizens. In 2014, the United States Census Bureau reported that African American people make up only 13.2% of our population. Anyone can become a victim of police brutality, regardless of their race; but statistics show that African American people are being killed by police at more than twice the rate of Caucasian and Hispanic people. It is also considerably more likely for the African American victims in these situations to have been unarmed at their time of death.…
