Another health benefit to genetically modified foods would be the possibility for allergy-free foods (Barton 1). A peanut allergy is one of the most common allergies that people can have, and scientists have found a certain gene in the peanut that contains no allergen in it (Barton 1). The next two health benefits that are related to genetically modified foods are the lessening of the carbon footprint, and the decrease in diseases that harm our fruits and vegetables (Barton 2). Those against the use of genetically modified foods use those who cannot afford organic food as their main reasoning behind their argument (Bailey 3). Some say that everyone should be treated equally, and most people cannot afford to benefit from the health benefits of organic food (Bailey 3). They argue that genetically modified foods are easier on the pocketbook, and they provide an easy way for those who take in a lower income to be able to eat (Bailey 3). They claim that all food, especially healthy organic food should be easily accessible to everyone, no matter their socioeconomic status. I have developed a particular viewpoint on this issue, and I believe one argument is the most persuasive one of all of the arguments
