According to the Food and Drug Administration, it is “bad science”. They reported that ninety-two out of every one hundred drugs that pass animal tests fail in humans. Peta says, “Animal experiments prolong the suffering of people waiting for effective cures by misleading experimenters and squandering precious money, time, and resources that could have been spent on human-relevant research” (Peta.org). This statement states that animal testing is not effective, people are continuing to suffer waiting for cures. Precious money and time is being wasted during these experiments. If these experiments were done on humans, less time, effort, and money would be wasted. The results would be more efficient and ethical for humans, and no animals will be tortured in the …show more content…
Today we are aware that major differences between animals and humans makes it difficult to tell if the drug response in humans will turn out 100% positive. As humans we need to ask ourselves this question “when you need medical treatment, wouldn’t you want a medication that works for you not what works in a completely different species” (navs.org). The drugs that are safe to use on animals might not be safe for humans. One perfect example of that is the thalidomide study. During the 1950s thalidomide was prescribed to pregnant women to help with morning sickness. When thalidomide was tested on animals is what safe however, when it was given to the pregnant women, it led to birth defects in over 10,000 children. This is a perfect example that animal testing is not accurate. There could be more medications that will are safe use on animals but cause health problems for humans that we are unaware
