In the article “Ethical Issues of Cloning” by Rita Putatunda explains about the problems of cloning. Copying the genes and making new reproductions of the human is equivalent to “playing God”. The successful cloning of Dolly (Sheep) in 1997 brings many tension upon society and furthers the possibility of human cloning. However, there is a high failure rate of cloning and it may alter the genes of the cloned animal/human. Putatunda questions that the cloning outcome might act as a unique individual or have to live like a genetic prisoner.…

I personally believe that cloning could be both a good and bad thing, and both sides make absolutely great points in their arguments. However, I believe that we should be able to have the choice whether or not we want to contribute to it or if we do not. Nevertheless, I think it depends on the reasoning you have for wanting and/or needing cloning done. I do believe that not all forms are ethically correct. I do agree with therapeutic cloning, as it could help people who may have cancer of a certain organ, that way they can clone the organ and just receive it instead of being put on a waiting list to find a potential match.…

However, the cloning of domestic pets, I feel, has no redeeming values. This is due to the fact that animals, and humans for that matter, are meant to die, and the cloning of a domestic pet is ridiculous and a waste of money (there are so many other things you could do with your money if you have enough to spend on cloning your pet). Also the cloning of animals for food I find to be wrong, as there are already enough issues with the meat production industry. In correlation with this, I feel that the cloning of animals for food distribution is also wrong, due to the fact that it will only add to the issue of factory farming. Ultimately, for research purposes and a positive medical outcomes, the cloning of animals is ok.…

Cloning has many negatives that need to be accounted for, but the positives are so beneficial that cloning should be used in science. The medical advantages such as drug production and helping with fertility problems outweigh the negatives ("Why Clone?"). Finding cures for diseases is a positive of cloning (Cyraoski 468-471). Fixing defective genes is also very beneficial to the world ("Pros and Cons of Human Cloning - HRF"). Faster aging could potentially be fixed with cosmetics and surgeries.…

Should Human Cloning Be Used Today Cloning is the artificial reproduction of a genetically identical copy of an organism. A clone is produced when DNA is extracted from the cell of the original organism, or “donor,” and inserted into an egg of the same species. The egg cell has had its nucleus previously removed and therefore it reads and duplicates the DNA of the donor cell. Since the first successful clone of an adult organism, Dolly the sheep, scientists have been experimenting with cloning others, such as mice, pigs, rabbits, goats, and other animals.…
