Arguments Against Abortion

Why should women have the option to have an abortion? Abortion is one of the most frequent procedures performed in America. Not only should it be illegal but there are so many reasons why killing an innocent life is morally wrong. Many argue that abortion should be legal because it is a woman’s body and it’s her right to decide. Some may even argue that an abortion is warranted because of unwanted causes such as rape or incest however, did you know that less than 1% of women that have an abortion do so because of rape or incest? The most common reason a woman decides to have an abortion is because they say it’s not the right time (Loxafomosity Ministries, Inc., 2005-2016). Women should choose pro-life because abortion is taking the life of …show more content…
Up to 89% of abortions happen in the first 12 weeks of pregnancy (Source: Special tabulations of data from Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Abortion surveillance—United States, 2010). By the time a mother has confirmed her pregnancy the baby has already developed blood cells, kidney cells, and parts of the brain. From weeks 6-7 the baby has also developed a regular heartbeat (Sacks, Daniel N. September 26,2015). Many argue that an abortion is the removal of cell tissue however, I am inclined to disagree because from the moment of fertilization a human life is being …show more content…
A look into a few procedures of abortion has proven to be abhorrent. The pill method is designed to starve the innocent life or cause the body to have contractions that force the child out. (“Abortion Procedures,” June 30,2015). The Aspiration procedure or a D&C is designed to vacuum the developing fetus out of the mother (“Abortion Procedures,” June 30,2015). During this procedure it literally pulls the tiny being apart making it unrecognizable. These procedures are carried out early in pregnancy and while some say that they are safe it is very apparent that it is not safe the unborn

“Surgeons entering the womb to perform corrective procedures on tiny unborn babies have seen those babies flinch, jerk and recoil from sharp objects and incisions” (Minnesota Citizens Concerned for Life). An abortion procedure involves an abortionist reaching into the mother’s womb with a clamp and pulling out parts of the child with force. This procedure violently tears a preborn child apart, limb from torso, until the child bleeds to death in utero. After the arms and legs are torn off, the abortionist then continues to the brain where he/she takes the clamp and crushes down on the head until they see pure white gelatinous material issue from the cervix. Many believe abortion should be legal because a woman has the right to do what she wants with her body. Linda Lowen states “ The ability of a woman to have control of her body is critical to civil rights.” If this right is taken away from them then it would cause chaos. Only a woman knows what is it like to have her body.…

Abortion is the process of removing a fetus from inside a woman to prevent unwanted pregnancy and parenthood. Abortions terminate about ¼ of pregnancies. There are multiple types of abortions, depending on how far the woman is into the pregnancy such as trimester one, trimester two, or trimester three. The woman has the option to have a medical or surgical abortion performed. To numerous people, abortion is considered a basic right for all women because it gives them control of their bodies and future.…

If a fetus is removed from the womb, it is cut off from all nutrition or energy that it receives from its mother. Without nutrition, it can no longer thrive, grow, or develop on its own and the only response to any stimuli presented is death. Most abortions save women from gruesome psychological effects due to rape or incest. Forcing a woman to carry and give birth to a child without her consent is bound to cause more psychological harm than the abortion itself (“10 Arguments: For and Against Abortion”). In most fetus fatal abnormalities such as a missing limb can be detected which can result in death shortly before or after the baby is born.…

There are many controversial issues that modern day america may face. Ranging from one extreme to another there is always something for us to argue about. Most of these issues affect many lives but not very many mean life or death as abortion does. Abortion is the ending of a pregnancy by removing a fetus or embryo from the womb before it can survive on its own. The process of aborting an embryo is far from humane, almost considered animalistic.…

To say that the subject of abortion is polemic would be a great understatement to say the very least. The battle of abortion is one that has been fought repeatedly and tirelessly with no end. For some, the right to an abortion may oppose certain ethical, social, or legal issues that an individual may follow. However, those specific religions, ethnic groups, or associations with the same opposition to abortions are not by any means required to have an abortion. Groups that oppose abortions are entitled to peacefully protest their discontent however without substantial reasoning the anti or pro-abortion quarrel can only go so far.…

Reproductive rights are the subject of extensive debate in capitol buildings and classrooms alike. In fact, just the other week, a friend and I got into a heated argument over the autonomy of a woman versus that of a fetus. My friend believes that a woman's right to make certain choices- namely abortion- end when fertilization occurs. Conversely, I'm very pro-choice for a variety of reasons. Firstly, I consider myself a feminist and as such value an individual's right to determine their own medical procedures in a higher regard than a fetus.…

One website reports, a baby’s heart begins to beat 18 days from conception, and by 21 days the heart is pumping blood through a closed circulatory system (“Pro-life Action League”) Most abortions are performed from eight to thirteen weeks and the child’s heart has already been beating for a while which means the infant is alive and being killed. The tools the surgeons use are horrifying. First tool the doctors use is the syringe needle, this injects the living child with salt water into the uterus and then the baby breathes it in and swallows it. The main tools they use next are the forceps, cranioclast, and the embryotomy scissors.…

A woman will have to decide for herself, based on what she believes in, how her life will be with those beliefs, and who she will integrate with her decision. Abortion is not a choice for everyone, however for Pro-choice supporters is the right decision whether it is for convenience or to a woman who was a rape victim and wanted to end the pregnancy. It seems like an easy fix to a life problem that you can 't solve by yourself. If you start thinking about what will happen if abortions were made illegal, consequently a number of women will become injured or sterile as a result of the procedure. People will think that giving the child up for adoption could be the solution but in most cases, this can be very emotionally damaging for the child 's mother.…

Abortion is the conscious decision to choose to end a pregnancy. Although gruesome, an abortion is, in simple, nonmedical terms when a child inside the womb is torn apart and taken out of the mother’s body. In some events, when it’s been more than twenty-four weeks of pregnancy, the doctor is forced to pull the fetus out of the mother and stab in in the neck with a sharp item. The brain is then sucked out of the neck with a vacuum like medical tool. Due to the amount of research and knowledge we have on the human body, nowadays there is also an option to abort a child by ingesting pills.…

Abortion is a huge problem that has caused a wide range of controversy all over the United States. There are two sides to the problem, which are people who oppose abortion or support it. Abortion becomes a big deal when trying to decide whether a fetus should be considered a human being already when a woman aborts. In my case I believe that a woman should not be able to abort a child inside her unless there is some type of serious medical issue where the child may not come out alive. When a woman aborts a child, they did not want, it is like the killing of another human being who had no say or ever did anything wrong to deserve it.…
