Most women that recieve abortions are victims of gender based violence that lead to pregnancy, including Jane Roe. “In America, specifically, the ethical perspective on abortion became highly publicized after the 1973 case Roe v. Wade, where Jane Roe affirmed to have been raped by a gang and became pregnant”( Lopez 512). Due to recent studies, some women feel abortion is their only hope after the violence and that it is the best decision. “Asked about the reason that led them to the choice of abortion, most women responded that they had made the right choice because they did not imagine carrying on an unwanted pregnancy, generated from a violent act, without their consent and their own desire” (Journal of Nursing). Women feel aborting the unwanted child due to rape is the best thing to do, instead of carrying a memory of the harsh event that happened to them.
