With these donations, they could do anything as complex as digging wells in Africa, or as something simple as changing a light bulb. If the church is asking for donations just for some extra equipment or a new sound system, that’s when they should draw the line, because you don’t need a bunch of fancy technology to worship whatever deities you believe in. The idea of church should be simple and subtle, but constructive and informative at the same time. Some church’s just sing a few worship songs and have a preacher speak for an hour, which doesn’t really accomplish much in my eyes. When I speak about churches and preachers like this, I’m not bad mouthing any of them in general, just saying these problems are happening in places, and that people attending those churches are oblivious to these facts. Donating your money to a large church that uses it for its own benefit is not only foolish, but also kind of condescending. I think some people donate to the church because it makes them look good and gives them a feeling of superiority to make themselves look better than the person who didn’t. I know that it is a very bold claim, but I do believe that is the reason behind some people donating. Money shouldn’t be used as a tool to look good, even if you are donating it to a good cause. You don’t need to donate to charities and foundations to be seen as a better person. Show that you are a thoughtful individual by doing your own good deeds, not just mindlessly giving away money as a way of looking
