As a child, you want to become so many things when you grow up. Your parents even tell you that you can be anything that you want to be. As a result, children tend to say, “I want to be a princess.”, “I want to be an astronaut.”, or “I want to be President of the United States.” When I was just seven years old, I told my parents,”I want to be a chef.”, and the reason for this was because I found a huge interest in cooking, and because my father was a chef as well. My parents, just like most parents, supported what I wanted to be, and so as a child they let me live my dream. With my dream planned and set, I never thought that it would change. Every early morning, I would get up and ready just to ask everyone in my household what they wanted for breakfast. My mother and I would cook everyone what they specifically wanted; I even had a little notebook to write their ‘orders’ in. I started doing this when I …show more content…

As my senior year recently came closer to an end, it became more clear that I was more unsure than ever as to what I wanted to do in life. School was not something I enjoyed and the thought of furthering my education taking random classes without knowing what I wanted to do seemed depressing. I decided I would enroll in the community college near my home in Alabama and get started on some basic classes. About a month after graduating, I was talking to my mom and she asked me what I wanted to do for a career. Still depressed and feeling anxious about the subject, I told her I really just wanted to go to cosmetology school.…

I've never really experienced having to work together alongside people that I didn't usually talk to, therefore when I started my Culinary Arts class it was an unusual feeling to do so. Every time we would cook something we would have different groups and every time we had to divide the jobs between the group. Occasionally I would have to be the leader and other times I had to listen to another person. At first, I would refuse to go along with my group and just do my own thing, but later on, I realized its best to listen to your group so things could work properly. Basically that no matter what position I am in I should always try to work together with the people I'm working with.…
