First of all, the rules in basketball are easy to explain. In basketball, players basically can’t make much contact with players on the opposite team, they can’t reach for the ball, they can’t push, they have to dribble the whole time, and depending on the situation, a player may have a time limit with the ball. That is basically it. In football, a player must understand how to gain or lose yards, what offside is, how a fumble works, which direction to pass it, know what kneeling on one knee is, and understand what first, second, third, and fourth down is. The rules of football are too complicated. In basketball, the rules mainly stay the same from elementary to college games, but a handful of rules are changed in football when one turns a certain age or is in a certain grade. To add on, there are less positions to learn in basketball than there is in football. During a football game, there are twenty-two players in all on the field. Each of those players play a different role in the game, with the exception of the few repeated positions. A couple nameable offensive positions are the receivers, the center, and the guard, and defensive positions include the linebackers, the safeties, and the cornerbacks. A basketball court has ten people on during the game with five on each team. The sport only has three main positions on both defence and offence. Admittedly, the games in the NFL are better scheduled; on the other hand, teams in the NBA play more games a season than teams in the NFL. Furthermore, basketball is better known worldwide. Lastly, basketball is easier to learn and play. Take a stand against football lovers and explain to them exactly why basketball is a better sport.
