Abortion What is abortion? Abortion is the ending of pregnancy by the removal or forcing out of the womb before the baby is able to survive on its own. My issue with this is I do not think people should get an abortion because if you think of it this way you wouldn’t be here if your parents had gotten an abortion. How would that have made you feel if they did? “The Pew Research Center found that forty-six percent of people say abortion should be legal in all or most cases; on the other side, forty-four percent say that abortion should always or mostly be illegal.”(www.livescience.com) I would be with the forty-four percent that say it should be always or mostly be illegal considering on if it was for a good reason like they don’t have the …show more content…

I know these things are true because I have went online and have read some of the experiences people have had while taking the abortion pill. “During Molly’s procedure, she said the drugs had knocked her out right away. “Murder is the “unlawful killing of a human being” with some level of intent.”(source 6) People are right about abortion being murder. But what they don’t know is that the baby in the womb isn’t actually considered alive until 16-17 weeks in the womb so if the woman was to have the abortion within the 16 to 17 weeks then it really wouldn’t be considered murder and besides the woman should be able to choose if she wants an abortion because she may have health problems or she just wouldn’t be able to take care of the child. People say that abortion should be illegal because you’re murdering a human being which could be true at some point but again some people don’t know that the baby isn’t fully alive until 16-17 weeks. For example “This is why abortion must be illegal if murder is illegal. It should never be “lawful” to kill any innocent human being.” In this quote they are saying that it should never be lawful to kill an innocent human being but these people don’t know what situation the woman could be in and why she needs the abortion.…

“Half of the pregnancies that occur in the U.S. are unplanned and four in ten of these are terminated by abortion” (quick stats), one can only imagine the despair and panic some women feel when they learn that they are pregnant, so having the option to terminate a pregnancy is a very important one to have. Women get abortions for many different reasons, however one of the main reasons is being financially unstable. As stated by Suzanne Trupin, sixtynine percent of women who receive abortions are at an economic disadvantage. This means that if they were forced to go through with the pregnancy it would be extremely difficult for them to do so, especially because pregnancy is very costly in the United States, and is even more expensive if one does not have insurance. For example “The Truven Report put the uninsured cost of having a baby at anywhere from $30,000 for an uncomplicated vaginal birth to $50,000 for a C-section.…

Iva Gutowski, author of Effects of Surgical Abortion, explains how infections are rare but if the infection is untreated, it can harm reproductive organs. Iva says that bleeding is another effect of the surgical procedure. Bleeding after abortion is common and should last for up to three weeks after the abortion. If the bleeding is excessive and lasts longer than three weeks following the surgery then that means there was an injury during the surgery; which is called hemorrhaging. Iva says “it may be fatal if left untreated”.…

There is a health and safety concern that if the ruling on abortion were to change to illegal than there would be a spike of self-induced abortions. Supporters argue that abortions should remain legal because the reversal of the Supreme Court decision would not stop women for seeking other ways to terminating their pregnancy. In today's society with legal methods of abortion becoming extremely limited due to new laws many women are opting for unsafe black-market solutions to their problems. In addition, based on the decision made by the Supreme Court in Roe vs Wade abortion was declared a fundamental right of the constitution.…

This means that women should have access to abortions in the first trimester, no matter what the reasons for her decision. When states cut away at these rights by decreasing the amount of abortion care clinics and enforcing arbitrary rules such as the mandatory counseling appointment and wait period between that appointment and the actual abortion service (USA Today), they are violating a woman’s right to choose to get an abortion for her own personal reasons. The argument that abortions are a moral issue and that women who decide to get an abortion are making an immoral choice is completely unfair for women, most of whom want what 's best for them and their family and feel that an abortion is the only way to achieve that goal. Therefore, abortions opponents have no real case against abortion and cannot violate the fourteenth amendment by preventing women from having access to…
