Sinking The Titanic

It was an icy day on April 14,1912 when the ship Titanic hit an iceberg and sank, here I will tell the tale. “Captain” someone called from the deck, there has been sightings of an iceberg ahead, “it’s fine, there is nothing of the sort.” Thirty-seven seconds later the ship hit an iceberg and cut right into the starboard (the right side) of the ship and tore it open. The captain was worried that not all of the passengers were going to be able to get off the ship. Some time later he commanded that lifeboats be put to use right away, the lifeboats would only be able to carry half of the passengers. Officer charles Lightoller said “Captain shouldn’t we put the all women and children on first sir?” “ Yes charles start doing

The passengers aboard the RMS Titanic were about 2,223 people who sailed on the maiden voyage. They sailed from Southampton to New York City. With many great deaths that occurred on this “unsinkable ship”, many authors used this event as a background for a great story, but were the details of the event accurately portrayed? When writing Dangerous Waters, it is clear that Gregory Mone did his research and showed the event accurately. The book Dangerous Waters by Gregory Mone was a heart pounding book.…

On April 15th, 1912 around 2 a.m. in the morning, in the Northern part of the Atlantic Ocean, the world’s biggest and most luxurious cruise line ships just had sunk. This horrific sinking of the ship is very devastating and the ship contained roughly around 2,200 passengers on board. 1,500 of the 2,200 passengers including women, men and children, and many of the crew members working for the ship had lost their lives. That is merely more than two-thirds of the passengers that died on that ship accident. The ages of the victims that lost their lives that morning, ranged from the tender age of 19 months to 75 years old.…

Police identify the man as John Russell Houser, a 59-year old with a criminal history. ourt records show a history of mental illness, erratic behavior from Houser. Police described the man as a “out-of-state drifter” and could not find a clear reason he targeted the particular movie theater and the romantic comedy Trainwreck. One possible reason is that Trainwreck is written by feminist comedian Amy Schumer.…

Although there were many different factors that played a role into the sinking of the Titanic, the weather played a huge role into it. It was clear with no moon, and the sea was completely calm, making it hard to tell if any danger was ahead (Cummins). After the Titanic had hit the iceberg, only one ship answered its distress signals; the Carpathia, but it unfortunately came when too many people had died and the crew members on the ship were only able to rescue 700 survivors (“Titanic Sinking”). Many people died that horrific night, but it the outcome of deaths would’ve been smaller if the ship would have had enough lifeboats for all of the passengers on board. There wasn’t enough lifeboats on the ship because the company that the Titanic came from; the White Star Line did not want to clutter the deck of the first class (Schama).…

It is not just these animals who must live in these kind of situations, but sea animals are forced into tiny tanks where they will remain there for the rest of their lives. Keeping animals in captivity for our own use is infringement of an animal’s right to be free from human abuse. The crazy thing is that even in their own environment these poor and defenseless animals are hunted down and used for our own purposes. Sharks, for example, are hunted down for their fins and only their fins. Sharks have been living on earth for over 400 million years.…

There are abundant theories regarding what took place that tragic night, but they have all seemed to come to one conclusion. The Titanic was traveling at 22.5 knots, cruising through the waters of the northern Atlantic Ocean (“RMS Titanic”). All at once, she came to an iceberg. The lookouts couldn’t warn the captain quickly enough to navigate around it, and the ship sideswiped it. This happened around 11:40 p.m. ship’s time (Main, Douglas).…

Ever since Titanic was released during the holidays, studios have looked at the holiday season as a prime spot to release huge movies. Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, Avatar, and Titanic have all seen gigantic numbers during this time of the year. This makes Winter the new Summer for movies. Sure, there are now Avengers films being released at that time, but December is where they roll out the films that could be nominated for awards. If you take a look at this holiday season — I have taken a guess at starting from October 1st – January 6th, because October 1st is the first official time I saw a Christmas movie promotion on television — you’ll notice a load of movies that are not only big budget, but also just begging to get nominated for an…

Without notice the iceberg grazes the lower ship waterline quickly filling lower compartments of the ship. After seeing the damage done, the Titanic was considered doomed. It took nearly three hours to sink the Titanic. As the bow sank, the stern rose from the water while the steel frame began to rattle eventually cracking the middle of the ship knocking out the electric lights remaining on the Titanic. Shortly after striking the iceberg the captain orders a largely disorganized evacuation process by lowering of the first lifeboat.…
