Argumentative Essay: The Role Of Women In Combat Roles

Many people often question is women should be able to contribute to combat roles. Can women handle fighting on the front lines, facing eye to eye with the enemy? Combat roles have always been out of the picture for women. As the gentle sex, women are usually linked with being loving, caring, and creating life rather than blowing up and destroying objects. Although women have the opportunity to join the military, they aren’t allowed to fight with their male counterparts in warfare occupations. Most people argue about women in combat roles because they are based on a traditional image females are associated with rather than facts. However, I believe that with the correct training, women can succeed.
It all starts out with equality. Doesn’t it say in the constitution that “All men are created equal”? Equality means having your rights as a human being and choosing what you can do and how you choose to do

Although physical strength matters, the military needs intellect a woman can offer. Women are sometimes more successful in some situations than men. Not every male soldier has a forte for fragile and sensitive jobs that call for interpersonal skills. According to a 2001 study in the American Journal of Physiology, Endocrinology, and Metabolism, “Women usually have more body fat and may be better at burning fat as energy early on in exertion and could have better endurance than men” (Ghose). Men use more energy that women do because they have more muscle mass and larger levels of circulating testosterone. Men’s muscles also tend to fatigue faster than those of women. Should women be allowed to fight on the front lines alongside men? Well that is a very iffy topic. There’s been debates on lowering the the toughness of the training or making a special training program for woman yet when it really comes to it, shouldn’t women have to go through the same training so we know that they would be able to make it and do the same things as men?…

Women in combat. It has recently sparked a debate on whether women should be allowed in combat or not. In my opinion, women shouldn’t be allowed in combat because they are too emotional to handle the long periods of time of being on tour, they aren’t physically built like men, and there would be too many problems with having men and women living together. Women are way too emotional to withstand being in combat. They wouldn’t be able to handle the 100+ degree temperatures, the stress of being away from their families for long periods of time, and they wouldn’t be able to handle being shot at all the time.…

The women who argue to be able to serve in combat are not acknowledging the danger it puts themselves and the United States Military in. In the article,“Why Women Do Not Belong in the U.S Infantry.”, Serrano expresses that if they allowed women to serve in combat during her service in the military, anyone including herself would have jumped at the opportunity because of the novelty, excitement, and challenge; but, her views have changed with the experience and knowledge she has gained. Everyone needs to accept the fact that women are different, not only physically, but all around. It will only destroy the mission of the services (Para. 1). Also, allowing women to serve in infantry will cause enormous amounts of distractions.…

In Molly M. Ginty’s article “All Guts, No Glory”, she explores the issue of women serving in combat and the unfair reality that females have faced in the U.S. armed forces. In my opinion I strongly believe that women should be allowed to participate in combat. Many reasons why are if she signed up for this and has all the right training for it she should be allowed to go into war and fight for our country the same way men do. Women put their life at risk the same way males do getting shipped out to different countries protecting our country. In the article it says “one of the most dangerous jobs in the military today is driving a truck – a position that many women hold.”…

Women should not consider going into Combat Imagine not being raised by your mother at a very young age, and had barely gotten to know her since she was more than a thousand miles away from home on duty, in a third world country fighting for your freedom each and every day. The only way you could communicate with each other is by telephone without seeing each other physically for months. She would most likely not be there the moments that are cherish the most such as birthdays and the first days of school. Now and days, the numbers of women joining the military are staggering and growing rapidly. The statements that were made have mostly been misunderstood by media to make them sound ignorant. However those statements for the most part are true, about the military, immigration reform, even about getting jobs back into the country. “Perhaps the most important argument for maintaining gender equality at every level is that it’s necessary to truly enable women to have successful careers within the military”(the muse). The armed forces need to treat everyone equally no matter what gender. Women are allowed to be on the front lines if they choose to. No one can force someone to do something they don 't want to do either. Everyone has to pass the same recommendations to be in the armed forces and on the front lines not everyone wants to be there , if that where you want to be put the effort forward.…

Should Women be allowed in Combat? Woman should be allowed in combat for many reasons. First of all allowing woman into combat situations would make our military more effective by putting talent into sections that were frowned upon before, it would help our forces become more modernized, putting women into combat situations would not break tradition because women have served in every war since the revolutionary war, and would put ability above gender. Allowing woman into combat situations would allow our combat units to be more effective in many different ways. Women who choose to become active combat soldiers, are unlikely to shirk their duty by becoming pregnant after a call-up as these women have willingly joined the service…
