Dan Casey and CNN.com separately discuss events concerning mass shootings by criminals in the United States of America. Shootings typically happen in places where there are a lot of defenseless people and innocent bystanders. This is why a lot of armed crimes happen in public places such as schools and banks. For example, the top two mass shootings in United States history were the Virginia Tech shooting and the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting. The Virginia Tech shooting occurred in Blacksburg, Virginia on April 16, 2007 and the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting took place in Newtown, Connecticut on December 14, 2012.
